We’ve been investing our own capital in early stage / start up scenarios for nearly 20 years. Some of those turned into companies that we also operated. Our philosophy is to invest in what we understand. We have broad industry expertise and significant investment experience but that doesn’t mean everything is right for us or that we’re right for every situation. We like those situations most where we clearly understand the business proposition and model; where we understand the industry or niche and where we feel like strong leadership / management is already on board. If not, we may be able to provide said leadership. Expertise is more important than capital. Fit is as important as opportunity. We strive to be good partners in whatever form that takes (active or passive) based on the specifics of each situation in which we find ourselves involved. We want to help fund and nurture new opportunities along the path from viability to growth, profitability and ultimately value creation. We often help in doing this by putting our own money at risk and our own experience and expertise to work along side founders and investors of like mind.
